George Haupt (1741-1784) is a Swedish cabinetmaker. He comes from a family of famous cabinetmakers, the son of Elias Haupt and was apprenticed to the cabinetmaker Johan Conrad Eckstien a year earlier than guild regulations allowed thanks to his family’s connections. He completed his apprenticeship and worked in Amsterdam, and subsequently Paris, where he trained under Simon Oeben, the brother of Jean-Francois Oeben.
