Delicately moulded with layered plumage, the surface is outstandingly naturalistic with the texture of down portrayed in blue underglaze. The feet are exceptionally represented in high relief with spread talons, stippled too, in blue underglaze. Recumbent in form, each head is erect and turned with rounded beaks slightly open to reveal a protruding tongue.
