Painted with two crested birds perched on the branches of a tree peony, the cavetto with a grisaille cell diaper border, and the rim with four fruit-, fan- or leaf-shaped panels of flowers alternating with pale turquoise ruyi-head quatrefoil devices amidst gilt blossoms and scrolling foliage within a pale green trellis diaper band at the gilt edge.

A very similar dish, also formerly in the Martin-Hurst Collection, was sold at Sotheby’s in Monte Carlo on June 23, 1986, lot 1347.
