A Black Glazed Jar and Cover

The jar of truncated ovoid form with high shoulders rising to the short neck, the flat base with recessed central medallion, topped by a low-domed cover with everted rim and bud-form knop. The jar covered in a thick, russet-surfaced black glaze that fired to a pure russet tone on the neck and diffused to black toward the lower portion, with thick glaze drips forming small “feet” on the base. The recessed section of the base and the cover also covered in the same glaze.
